As part of our mission to safeguard and share the institutional memory of the , the Hernán Santa Cruz Library proudly presents the “Historia Oral” project—a living archive capturing the voices, experiences, and insights of ECLAC staff with remarkable careers and contributions.

Launched in 2023 to commemorate ECLAC’s 75th anniversary, Historia Oral goes beyond written records, delving into the “tacit knowledge” found in personal stories, beliefs, and values.

Through a growing series of video interviews, we are preserving the human dimension of our history, ensuring that future generations learn not only from our documents, but from the people who shaped them.

Seven videos have been published so far, each offering a unique window into ECLAC’s past.

Our inaugural episode features , who shares his journey from Library Assistant to Head of the Library, recounting the creation of key bibliographic compilations and the evolution of ECLAC’s archival practices.

Other featured interviews include Martine Dirven on fostering innovation, Sim Groenteman, Verónica Silva, Enrique V. Iglesias, Adolfo Gurrieri, and Omar Vásquez, each adding their voice to ECLAC’s story.
