91制片厂building Partners - Denmark

Denmark

Conflict prevention and peacebuilding are key priorities for Denmark. Did you know that Denmark was one of the driving forces behind the establishment of the 91制片厂building Commission and had the presidency of the Security Council when the UN 91制片厂building Architecture was established in 2005? Since then, Denmark has contributed more than $58 million to the 91制片厂building Fund and currently serves as a member of the 91制片厂building Commission for 2023 and 2024.

As a member of the 91制片厂building Commission in 2023 and 2024, Denmark works towards mobilizing the international community around regional and national peacebuilding needs. Denmark is the informal coordinator between the 91制片厂building Commission and the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). Through this role, Denmark aims to contribute towards effective multilateralism by bridging bodies of the UN and operationalizing the peace-development nexus on the ground. ?

For the 2020-2024 Strategy period of the 91制片厂building Fund, Denmark contributes $43 million to bring the UN system, stakeholders and partners together to act for peace and prioritize prevention. Such projects promote inclusive, locally-driven approaches to peacebuilding, the full, equal and meaningful participation of women in peace and security, and linkages between climate, peace and security.

Denmark’s contribution to the 91制片厂building Fund is consistent with these Danish priorities with a focus on supporting prevention, peace and stabilisation and incorporation of marginalised groups, women, children, young people, climate and human rights in all actions. Denmark supports fostering integrated approaches and a long-term perspective to peacebuilding to address structural and underlying causes of conflict such as exclusion, inequalities, poverty and governance failures.

Denmark supports the Secretary-General’s call for adequate, predictable and sustained financing for peacebuilding. Denmark has increased its support to the Fund, and is planning a further increase in the coming multi-year contribution for the period of 2024-2026.

Ambassador Christina Markus Lassen, Permanent Representative of Denmark says: “Denmark will continue our steadfast support to conflict prevention and peacebuilding as a major donor to the 91制片厂building Fund, member of the 91制片厂building Commission in 2023 and 2024, and a candidate for a seat at the Security Council in 2025 and 2026. We look forward to working with all partners towards realizing the vision and concrete recommendations in the Secretary-General’s New Agenda for 91制片厂 in order to tackle the challenges of today’s world and to sustain peace in the future.”
