As part of their joint mobilization strategy leading up to the COP30 UN Climate Conference, His Excellency Mr. Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, President of the Federative Republic of Brazil, and His Excellency Mr. António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, will convene a small but representative group of Heads of State and Government for a virtual closed-door meeting on 23 April, 8.00 to 10.00 EDT, to discuss strengthening global efforts to tackle the climate crisis and accelerate a just energy transition.
The day before, on 22 April, at 8:00 EDT, the United Nations will host an embargoed background briefing for international media, with COP30 President-Designate André Corrêa do Lago and Special Adviser to the UN Secretary-General on Climate Action Selwin Hart to preview the upcoming meeting and provide relevant context.
