On the eve of World Environment Day, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) launched the , a tool that integrates data from multiple sources to support evidence-based decision-making on plastic pollution.
Developed under the ?—the world’s largest multi-stakeholder alliance addressing plastic pollution—the Global Plastics Hub?is?a platform?to help end plastic pollution through informed and collective action across the entire plastic lifecycle.
Global Plastics Hub features:
-
Knowledge Hub: A curated repository of research, tools, policies, and best practices for replication and to guide action.
-
Data Hub: Interactive visualizations of global datasets across the entire plastic lifecycle, including on plastics trade, waste management, and plastics in the environment.
-
Country Dashboard: This new feature visualizes plastics flows along the lifecycle at the country level.
-
Country-Dedicated Workflow: UNEP is piloting this stepwise approach for developing evidence-based national action strategies and plans in 19 countries, supported by datasets and case studies.

“We invite you to sign up for the Global Plastics Hub today by registering yourself, to be part of shaping the solution, and take collective action to beat plastic pollution,”?says Doreen Lynn Robinson, Deputy Director of UNEP’s Ecosystems Division.
Looking ahead
The Global Plastics Hub is set to expand with new features, including tools to track cumulative progress, facilitate access to financing, and AI-powered solution support.
