Established in 1921, the University of Colombo is the oldest and highest-ranking higher education institution in Sri Lanka. UNAI SDG Hub 17 Vice-Chair for Outreach and Partnerships: The Federal University of Rio de Janeiro
The Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) is strongly committed to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Since 2023, it has received the “national SDG Education Seal", recognizing projects—many of them outreach initiatives—that promote sustainability within the institution and in its relationship with society. In December 2024, it approved the Sustainability and Regenerative Education (SER) policy, which aims to recognize, expand, and integrate sustainable practices into its academic and administrative activities. In addition, UFRJ participates in “Rede Unisustentável”, a network of Brazilian of Universities, collaborating with other universities to foster a more sustainable society.
